Obituary of Lois Rae Wharton

Lois Rae Wharton, 64, passed away November 6, 2012 in Columbus, OH after a valiant struggle against her illness.  Born in Akron, she lived in Gadsden, Alabama for 21 years before moving to Columbus, OH in 1999.  She was a member of the Columbus chapter of SOAR.  She was preceded in death by her son Aaron, father Clayton Hoover and brother Kenneth Hoover. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ronald, son Ryon (Jamie) Wharton, grandchildren, Lauryn and Jack, mother Evelyn Hoover, sisters Sharon (Ern) Wolf, Kathy Hardman and brothers Morris (Donna) Hoover and Hubert Hoover, sister-in-law Sheila (Allan) Lyons, brother-in-law Jim and many loving nieces and nephews.  While in Alabama, Lois learned the art of cake decorating and became an incredibly talented artist in the field. She and a friend began their own bakery (The Cakery) and thanks to Lois’s talent the business became very,very popular.  Lois was the kindest sweetest soul and will be missed beyond what mere words can express.  Friends are invited to the Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Sunday from 1 to 3 PM where Pastor Jim Case will conduct a service Sunday 3 PM.  Interment Silver Springs Cemetery.  Should friends desire, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
