Obituary of John L. Ramsdell
A 30 year resident of Hudson, Ohio, John L. Ramsdell , 76, died peacefully at home on Dec. 28, 2009 after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Syracuse, New York on Aug. 1, 1933, he was the son of the late Harry & Margaret Ramsdell. After earning a degree in ceramic engineering from Alfred State University, he went on to enjoy a career in sales at North American Manufacturing Company, where he served as the V.P. of Engineering. Retiring in 1995, he became an Akron City Hospital Volunteer, a tutor for troubled youth at the Summit County Youth Development Center, an avid golfer and world traveler.
Preceded in death by his wife Marilyn in 2004, he is survived by daughters Catherine (Jerry) Livadas of Stow, Susan Ramsdell of Akron, and beloved grandchild, Alexandra Livadas, a.k.a “Squirt”; his many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend and travel companion, Linda Riley, who held a very special place in his heart.
