Obituary of Carl Gustave Giet
STOW- Carl Gustave Giet, 84, passed away after a short illness surrounded by his loving family.
Carl was a US Navy veteran, stationed in the Pacific during World War II, a founding member of the Stow VFW 4738 and had retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. after 31 years of service. An avid Buckeyes fan, he was also the best mashed potato maker, yet was an even better grandpa and father.
Survived by his wife of 61 years Dorothy; children Carl Thomas (Vicki) of Albany, GA, Jim (Susan) of Cicero, IL, Ruth (Bryan) Posey of Magnolia, TX, Bob (Lynda) of Tallmadge, Bill (Linda) of Tallmadge, Elaine (Bill) Holehouse of Columbus; 14 grandchildren and 9 ¾ great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Mass Saturday 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, Fr. Joe Mamich celebrant. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery with military honors provided by Charles Faust American Legion Post 281. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude’s Research Center, The Shriners or to the charity of your choice.
