Obituary of William Baker

  William Edward Baker was born on August 5th, 1923 in Lisbon, Ohio and died January 11th, 2015. He lived in Munroe Falls, Stow, and most recently Westfield Center, Ohio. Bill was a WWII veteran serving in the Philippines with the HQ Co. of the 174th Eng. Co. Bn. He earned a Masters degree from Kent State University. Bill taught industrial arts at Revere High School for 25 years and taught part-time at Kent State University. He was athletic director at Revere High School and served on the board at Summit Federal Credit Union for several years. Bill spent his summers working as a draftsman at Goodyear Tire and Majestic Rides. He thoroughly enjoyed woodworking, traveling, camping, and his pets.   Bill was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothea A. (Helman) Baker, parents Joseph W. and Elsie M. (Woodburn) Baker, and brother Raymond F. Baker. Bill is survived by his wife Ruth Boscia-Baker of Westfield Center; children Rebecca (Gary) DeMoss of Bath, Richard (Rita) Baker of Brimfield, and Suzette (John) Shanley of Edinburg; step-children Sandra Kirshtein of Charleston, SC, Frank Boscia of Seville, Jack Boscia of Westfield Center, and Teri Boscia of Columbus, GA; grandchildren Lyndsey and Jason DeMoss, Peter (Emily) Baker, Steven (Lana) Baker, Patrick (Lauren) Baker, Sara and Erin Shanley, Tony (Michelle) Boscia, Adrena Boscia, Josh (Laura) Kirshtein, Andrea (Robert) Kimmel, and Jacquelyn Kirshtein; brother Glenn R. Baker of Lisbon and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.   The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Visiting Nurse for their excellent and loving care. We would also like to thank the entire staff of Danbury Woods, Cuyahoga Falls for their loving care and dedication; we sincerely appreciate the love you gave to Bill and his family.   Bill’s memorial service will be conducted Saturday, Jan 17 at 3:00 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home, Stow. Visitation will be one hour prior to his memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Visiting Nurse, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333 or Medina County SPCA, 245 South Medina St., Medina, OH 44256.
