Obituary of Herbert Ross Norris
CUYAHOGA FALLS – Herbert Ross Norris, Jr., 81, went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2014 after a long illness.
Born on September 2, 1932 in Cuyahoga Falls, Herbert was a member of Akron First Church of the Nazarene (now called Fishcreek Church of the Nazarene, Stow) which he first attended at two weeks of age. He graduated from Tallmadge High School, was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from Firestone/Bridgestone Company after serving as security for 30 years. He had more recently resided in Wooster, Ohio. Herbert’s relationship with the Lord was first and foremost with a favorite Bible verse being John 14: 1-3, 27. He dearly loved his wife, family, church family, had a great sense of humor and never knew a stranger. Herbert also loved eating, music, and sports, whether playing, coaching or watching.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Jean Norris (Taylor); son Herbert R. Norris III (Beverly); daughters, Karen Walker-Albright (Raymond), and Dixie Lynn Ward (Nathan); grandchildren Ray II, Jamie, Jason, Heidi, Hollie, Ross, Nate, Caleb, Andrew, Hilary, Devon, Jacob; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Fishcreek Church of the Nazarene, 4669 Fishcreek Road, Stow on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 2:30 PM, with Pastors Nathan Ward and Herbert Norris III officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wayne County Hospice, 2525 Back Orrville Road, Wooster, Ohio 44691.
