Obituary of Dennis J. Gallagher

STOW – Dennis J. (Denny) Gallagher, 68, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2014 after a 15 month illness.   Dennis was born in Barberton, Ohio on December 29, 1945 to James J. and Jean N. (Bunn) Gallagher who preceded him in death. Dennis graduated from Barberton High School and was in the U.S. Air Force with duty in Vietnam before working at Goodyear and IBM. He was a member of the American Legion Post 566. Dennis was retired and was happiest spending time with his grandchildren, playing golf and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes.   He leaves behind his devoted wife of 45 years, Rosemary; son Michael; daughter Kelly (Mike) Whitfield; three grandchildren – Kelly and Jacob Gallagher and Christopher Whitfield; sisters Patricia Daley, Kathleen (Richard) Domonkas, Bernardine Lewellen, Maureen (Pat) Witschey and Jean (Jon) Heineman; brothers James (Maureen) Gallagher, John (Teresa) Gallagher and Daniel Gallagher; and many nieces and nephews.   Special thanks to Dr. Paul Gibbons and the other doctors and nurses at Summa Western Reserve Hospital and The Cleveland Clinic.   Calling hours are from 5 to 8 PM on Friday, July 11 at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, with a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 12 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3450 Sycamore Drive, Stow. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105. or the American Heart Association.
