Obituary of Veronica Mae Zukas

STOW – Veronica (Vera) Mae Zukas, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2014. Vera was a devoted wife, an exceptional mother of five children, as well as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the type of person who sacrificed everything of herself to make sure her family was taken care of. She was more than just a mother, she was also a friend who would always listen and offer advice, and whenever anyone needed help, she was always the first to lend a hand. For this reason she will be forever loved and respected. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family and 2 cats. She was a resident of Stow and enjoyed cooking, playing bingo, going to the casino, and cheering on the Cleveland Indians. She was also an accomplished musician, playing the accordion in an all-girl band. Vera is survived by her sons Keith (Robyn) Zukas, James Zukas, Chuck (Shirley) Zukas; daughter Laura Ryan and her fiancée Mitch Shape; niece Lynn (Mark) Brown; nephews Gary Zanercik, Mark (Tracey) Zanercik, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, and her 2 special cats Baby and Lady. She also held a special place in her heart for Mary (Steve) Williams, Glen Ryan, Sherry Zukas, and Michele Zukas. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years Charles Zukas; her parents Andrew and Vera Kalasky; a brother Andy Kalasky Jr.; son Kenneth Zukas; grandson Jimmy Zukas; and her sister and brother-in-law Betty and Milan Zanercik. Cremation has taken place and Vera requested that there be no memorial service. However, family and close friends are invited to a special gathering to celebrate her life in a private dining room at Beef O’ Brady’s at the corner of Graham Rd and Darrow Rd (Rt. 91) in Stow on Saturday, June 07, 2014 from 5 pm to 8 pm.
