Obituary of George E. Castner

The world just lost a beautiful man with the sudden passing of George E. Castner. With the presence of family, he passed away on December 29th, 2014. He was born in Akron on March 15, 1953 to the late Francis Castner and Mary Ellen Pophal. He is survived by his daughters Kristina (Trent) Wright, Pamela (LaVern) Steppe; Grandchildren: Jonathan, Joshua, Julianna, William; Jacob (Maria), Rachael, Sarah, Lydia, Isabella, and Katarina; stepfather, Al Pophal of Florida, sister Tina (Jim) Starn and sister-in-law Mella Castner; brothers Bill Castner, Ricky, Mickey (Janice), Rob (Tawni) Pophal; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunt and uncle. He is reunited with his sister, Barbara and brothers James “Jimmy” Castner and Michael Pophal. He was employed as a CNC machinist with a company he loved Kovatch Casting where he made many friends. George enjoyed fishing, drinking Cherry Pepsi, watching football, and golfing with his buddy Hans. His life’s greatest enjoyment was time spent with his daughters, grandchildren, and family; which, he showed by snapping photos. The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to those wishing to send flowers. Instead, George would want memorials made to Akron Rotary Camp. Service will be held at Redmon Funeral Home Saturday 12 noon, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time. Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery.
