Obituary of Liz Lovell
UNIONTOWN- Liz Lovell, 49, died April 1, 2014.
Born in Akron, Liz was a lifetime area resident. She grew up in Stow and graduated from Stow High School in 1983. She then earned both her bachelor’s degree in mathematics and her master’s degree in education from Kent State University. She accepted a position as a math teacher at Archbishop Hoban High School, from where she retired in 2012 when her father was diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, Liz was diagnosed a year later.
In 1984 Liz met Tim. They immediately fell in love and married in 1989. They traveled, attended hundreds of concerts, were always together and loved going out. In 1997 they had their first daughter Marisa, and in 2000 their second daughter Erika. These two girls were her passion. She loved teaching them and seeing them excel academically and in sports. She is so proud of them! Her other passions were math and music. She truly had a passion for teaching and tutoring. She was a dynamic math teacher and worked so hard to be the best teacher she could be. Another passion was music, which was a direct reflection of her father, a retired band director from Cuyahoga Falls, and of her time in the Stow High School marching band. She played clarinet, her sister Michele was a majorette and Tim played sousaphone. She also loved live music, especially her 80's hair metal and her favorite local bands like Red Sun Rising, Disco Inferno, 1988, and many more.
Liz's family would like to thank the staff at Hillman Cancer Center, Akron General Oncology staff and Hospice for their support and care.
Preceded in death by her mother Helen Corbissero, she is survived by her husband of 25 years Tim; daughters Marisa (“Biggie”) and Erika (“E”); father Michael Corbissero of Stow; sister Michele (Keith) Allen of San Antonio, TX. She will be remembered by many friends, bands, and local venues that she promoted and supported.
