Obituary of George Quillin
George D. Quillin passed away March 11, 2014, a few days shy of his 87th birthday. He was born in Akron, Ohio on March 20, 1927. George was preceded in death by his parents (Dewey and Bernice), a sister (Jean), his first wife, Betty Lou (Hunter) Quillin, and his second wife, Nancy (Armstrong) Quillin. Survivors include his children: George E. (Sandy) Quillin, Michelle (Brad) Webb, David (Denise) Quillin, and Amy Quillin; grandchildren: David, Erin, Alan, Andrew, Paul, Matthew, Trevor, and Elizabeth; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother (Dan Quillin); brothers-and-sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
George was a standout athlete at North High School (Akron), served honorably in the US Army, and received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Michigan. He worked 29 years as a corporate attorney for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., and retired to Hawaii where he spent 20+ years.
He was a voracious reader, a lover of music, an avid backgammon player, and had an insatiable curiosity about the world. He was an active member of the Elks and leaves many good friends in that organization.
Calling hours will be from 1:00-3:00 on Saturday, March 29 at Redmon Funeral Home, followed by a short memorial service beginning at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in George’s name.
