Obituary of Richard B. Timmer
Surrounded by his family, Dr. Richard B. Timmer went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 3, 2015.
Rich was born on June 4 1946, his parents Benjamin and Margaret Timmer in Ellsworth Michigan. Richard grew up in Michigan where he met his wife, Darlene. He graduated from Calvin College, and went on to earn his Masters and Doctorate in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Illinois. He worked at Dupont in North Carolina for five years, and his remaining career was spent at General Tire/Omnova, and the University of Akron.
Richard and Darlene, loving and devoted spouses, who enjoyed raising their family, travelling together, and serving at church, The Chapel, and being involved in Gideons and Samaritan's Purse. Richard was also involved in the choir. Richard cared deeply about his family, and always worked hard to provide for them. The memories he made with each of them will be cherished.
Surviving is his loving and caring wife of 43 years, Darlene C. Timmer and their children Richard (Susan) Timmer, Christine Timmer, Elizabeth (Kevin) Burnworth, Jonathan (Marion) Timmer, and Darlene (Carl) Maxfield; grandchildren Rose , Lily , and Dominick Timmer, Everett Maxfield, and Elilanna Burnworth. His surviving siblings are Huebert (Tena) Timmer, Kathleen VanderVliet, Agnes (Al) Heersink, and Earle (Kathy) Timmer.
Thanks be to God for His bounteous blessings in our lives, and to be able to care for him for the last almost 12 years following his brain injury.
Thanks to the many people who helped in so many ways, we could not have made it on this journey without you.
Thanks to Dr. Raymond Bermea, Dr. Ross Dorsett and Dr. S. Leslie Tobias for their excellent care all these years and for always being available. We rejoice that Rich is out of his suffering and is with God for all of eternity, even though we miss him very much.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Friday 4 to 7 PM. Pastor Mike Castelli will conduct service Saturday 11 AM at The Chapel- Green Campus, 1800 Raber Road, Uniontown 44685. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gideons Intl or Samaritan's Purse.
