Obituary of Harry Tighe
STOW – Harry Tighe, 87, passed away March 17, 2014.
He was born in Zillman, Maryland on August 18, 1926 to the late Patrick O. Tighe and May Stevens Tighe. He resided in this area most of his life, graduating from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1944 and later rearing a family in Stow that was his pride and joy.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Ruth Ann; and sister, Isabelle McGuire. He is survived by his son, John (Kathy); daughters, Constance Ann and Kathleen (Mark Felber); grandchildren, Breanna, Jennifer and Megan Tighe; Jessica (Chris) Gaton and Patrick (Carmel Clavin) Jarrett; sister, Ruby Shields; sisters-in-law, Mary (Fred) Schaffer and Rebecca White; brother-in-law, Bill Schafer; and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Harry was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II and participated in the battle of Okinawa.
He studied business administration at Kent State University, owned and operated Tighe Trucking Company and retired after thirty years from the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 18.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Thursday 4 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.
