Obituary of Leonard H. Baker, Jr
MUNROE FALLS- Leonard H. Baker, Jr., 91, born September 15, 1922, passed away February 23, 2014.
Len’s life was a shining example to his 5 children of honesty, love of family, integrity and strong faith. He served in the US Coast Guard on the USS Bayfield in World War II, seeing action in Normandy, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. A printer by trade, he retired in 1989 from Excelsior Marking and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Mary; children Linda (Bill) Quartel, JoAnn (Tony) Pergola, Kathleen (Gene) Odum, Thomas and Robert (Kay); 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sister Madaline McCarthy and niece Julia (Jerry) Clinton.
Fr. Ed Holland will conduct service Friday 2 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, where friends and family may call from 12 noon until service time. Burial Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.
The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron 44333 for all of the care and support given to Leonard and family. Memorial donations in Leonard’s name may be sent to Hospice.
