Obituary of Helen B. Conklin
Helen B. Conklin, age 87, passed away peacefully and returned to the Lord on January 24, 2014. She is a direct descendant of the Philhower family which settled in northern New Jersey circa 1748. Helen was a resident of New Jersey who came to stay at Mulberry Gardens Assisted Living in Munroe Falls for her later years. She graduated from Morristown, N.J. High School Class of 1944. During WWII she worked for International Plastics as a quality control supervisor. She married Theodore Jesse Conklin of Springfield, N.J. in 1947 and together they operated Ideal Gardens, Inc., for which she was President. Helen was a church choir member, Sunday school teacher, band parent’s secretary, and garden club member. At Mulberry Gardens, Helen volunteered at Mobile Meals and the local Ohio public schools, played in the bell choir, and walked for Breast Cancer. She is survived by daughters Iris Bradisse (John,) Susan Conklin; grandchildren Julie Bradisse, and Michael Bradisse (Jill.) The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude for all of the loving care and friendship Helen received from the staff and residents of Mulberry Gardens, and private duty caretakers Dee Christner, Emily Riley, Jan Margida, Judith Benton, and Cindy & Liz Scherer. Helen was most known for her colorful wardrobe, bright red hair, and her blissful, upbeat slant on life, which were so contagious. Helen will miss rooting for the New York Yankees here on earth, but will continue to do so from heaven, especially for Derek Jeter! Calling hours will be Thursday, January 30th, 5 to 7 PM at Redmon Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
