Obituary of Marie A. Evans
We have lost a mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and animal advocate…Marie Agnes Evans has begun a new journey. Marie was born to the late Earl and Agnes Kirkpatrick on July 9, 1941 in Akron, Ohio.
Marie graduated from Stow High School and received an A.S. in Nursing from Sandhills Community College of Pinehurst, North Carolina while raising her two children.
Marie grew up in Stow, Ohio and lived and worked as a registered nurse in North Carolina for 10 years. As was her nature, she continued to care for people after her retirement by being a volunteer nurse for Visiting Nurse Service for 2 years before she returned home to Ohio to be closer to her mother and two sisters. Marie was a compassionate, kind soul to all that touched her life; be it a rescued chicken, stray dog, cat, or the inmates she cared for as a registered nurse in the North Carolina prison system. All were worth her time, effort, and all deserved to be given a touch of kindness that she offered. The nursing profession lost one of its best.
Marie is survived by her two loving sons John Cooke of Colorado and Guy Cooke of North Carolina; grandchildren, Aiyana and Westin; brother, Earl (Nancy) Kirkpatrick; sisters Linda Large and Sybil (Tony) Brenner; many nieces and nephews and her very best friend, Moses.
“To the world you are one person, but to our family you were the world."
