Obituary of Rosalia Bessie Duckworth
Rosalia Bessie (Caracciolo) Duckworth of Phoenix, AZ, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014, after a long battle with Alzheimers. Roe, the oldest of thirteen children, was born January 27, 1929, in Cuyahoga Falls, OH to Francisco and Daisy (Easterday) Caracciolo. She is survived by her three children, Richard (Carol) of Uniontown, OH; Doree Bennett of Kent, OH; Denise (Terry) Howe of Kent, OH; two grandsons and five granddaughters; nine great grandchildren; five brothers, five sisters and over 100 nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her first husband of 48 years, Thurman (Slim) Forest Duckworth; her second husband Kay B. Sebert; and sisters Francisca and Katherine.
Roe and Slim moved to Phoenix in 1970 after their children had ‘flown the nest’. She enjoyed working with ceramics and turned that enjoyment into a small home business teaching ceramics. There were many trips to ceramic conventions all over the United States. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority of women in Phoenix and enjoyed being with all her friends and performing works of charity with them.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Maplewood Care Centre in Streetsboro, OH, for their kind, compassionate care these last few years.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place at St. Patrick Church, Kent, OH, on Wednesday at 10 AM with interment at Grandview Cemetery in Ravenna immediately following. To celebrate her life, please join us for food and conversation in the St. Patrick Church basement after the service at the Cemetery.
