Obituary of Alex M. Alexander
SILVER LAKE- Alex M. Alexander, 80, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on January 3, 2014, with amazing love and a huge caring heart for his family and friends.
Alex graduated from Akron North High School in 1951 and Michigan State University in 1955. He worked 30 years for Falls Lumber Co., then owned and operated, with his three sons, Falls Lumber and Millwork Co. for 24 years. He had a lifelong passion in the woodworking industry, and it was this passion that he conveyed to all those he served over the years. Al enjoyed traveling with his wife Nan, his family and his friends, lunch with the “good ol’ boys”, golfing, fishing, music and collecting antique woodworking tools. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, family and grandchildren, and was their biggest fan in all sports and activities.
Preceded in death by his parents Minie and Alex Alexander, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nanette L.; sons Douglas (Ellen), David (Kathy) and Donald (Gina); grandchildren Kara, Kyle, Kevin, Abigail (Sean), Rebecca, Olivia, Melina and Ava and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Monday 4 to 8 PM. Pastor Brad Jagger will conduct service Tuesday 11 AM at The Church in Silver Lake, 2951 Kent Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg 44087. Mr. Alexander's video tribute may be seen here.
