Obituary of Viola Mae Bevington
Viola Mae Bevington, (Sansonetti), passed away on December 24th after a lifetime filled with laughter, song, and joy. Vi, affectionately known to her family as "Nonnie" and to friends as “Vivacious Vi”, took her talents to Heaven this past Christmas Eve. A woman so filled with life and an entertainer at heart, she could not miss the party that was to be on Christmas Day, celebrating the birth of her Savior in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Vi was a late baby, brought into the world no doubt to remind her family that life should not be taken so seriously. Having been born on Easter Sunday, her disposition for grand entrances began. There is no doubt that her first words were most likely sung and her first steps more of a tap dance.
Notorious for her love of improv skits, Vi spent many summers at Camp Y-Noah performing alongside lifelong friends Sandy Achtermann and Marge Laria. Vivacious Vi was a lady known for many things, but her singing, cooking and bridge playing tops the list. Preceded in death by husband, Robert R. Bevington, in 2001, brother James Sansonetti and sister Theresa Sabetta, she is survived by her son Robert (Amy), daughter Barbara (Dana), and Beth; grandchildren David, Lauren (Brent), Grace, Michael, Kendall, Michelle, Cameron, and Olivia; great-grandchild Logan; and many other nieces and nephews.
As tradition when departing, Vi would recite the phrase “arrivederci,” meaning, “we see each other again” in Italian, and blow a kiss to be caught by the receiver.
A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Community Chapel, 750 West Streetsboro Street, Hudson, Ohio 44236, at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 30th. Visitors will be received by the family from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to: Christ Community Chapel in Vi’s name. The family wishes to thank friends for their loving support.
