Obituary of Henry Gourley

Henry (Hank) Gourley of Cuyahoga Falls and the Greatest Generation passed away on Nov. 25th after a short illness at the age of 91. Hank, as he was known by his friends, retired from the navy in 1963 after proudly serving his country for 20 years. Hank was also a World War II veteran and member of the U.S. Submarine Service. He served on several submarines during his career but always fondly remembered the crew and the submarine Dace SS 247 where he spent several years during the war and was fortunate enough to make and survive 8 successful war patrols in the Pacific. After his navy career, Hank spent 15 years as a sales rep for MetLife before retiring in 1978.  Hank is survived by son Jack and daughter in law Jane Gourley, daughter Marilyn Dace (Tom) Mazzei, Son Hank (Patricia) Gourley of Boardman, Ohio, sister Irene Wheaton of Port St. Lucie, Florida, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great- great- grandchildren.  The family wishes to thank Mulberry Gardens Assisted Living of Munroe Falls and ASERA Care Hospice for their excellent care. Funeral arrangements are being made in Port St. Lucie, Florida where Hank spent 25 enjoyable retirement years.
