Obituary of Alfred T. Eddy
Alfred T. Eddy died on November 3, 2013. He was born in Philadelphia on July 3, 1931 to parents Fanny and Byron Eddy. Al was proud to be a “South Philly Boy!”
He served honorably aboard the USS Sigourney destroyer in the US Navy and traveled the world. Al had a long career as a merchandise manager for McCrory-McLellan & Green stores on the east coast before moving his familyto Akron to manage Miracle Mart and K-Mart stores.
He found his true calling later on in life when he worked as the Floral Gardener for the City of Stow before retiring to his love of gardening.
He was an active member of Gardeners of Greater Akron and he loved being involved with the Youth Gardening Program. His pet project was showing children how to grow plants in paper pots. Al was also involved with Bath Community Days and ran the “Wacky Planter Contest” each year.
Al loved arguing politics anywhere, anytime and with anyone!
