Obituary of Marlene M. Kuhns

KENT- Marlene M. (Yutzy) Kuhns, of Middlebury Road in Kent, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was 74. Born February 4, 1940 in Rockwood, PA to John and Stella (Naugle) Yutzy, Marlene came to her Middlebury Road home at the age of four and was a life-long resident ever since. She was a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School. Together with the love of her life Merle, they raised four loving children. She leaves 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren to cherish her memory. She was a second mom to many over the years and was fondly referred to as Aunt Mo. Her loving smile and wisdom was a blessing to all. Marlene retired from Wooster Sheet Metal and Roofing in Akron after 25 years as Office Manager. Her true enjoyment in life was the love that she shared with her husband, Merle. She truly gave unselfishly to her children, grandchildren, and anyone that needed it along the way. Her kindness and generosity never had limits. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Merle in 2007, parents John and Stella Yutzy, sister Doris (DoDo) Yutzy and brother-in-law Chet Callebs. She is survived by her sons Merle W. (Melissa) Kuhns, Jr. (Butch) of Kent, who devoted his life to taking care of his parents, and John (Melissa) Kuhns of Kent; daughters Kathleen (Jeff) Simione of Akron and Susie Lockhart of Kent; grandchildren Matthew (Nicole) Spangler, Lauren Kuhns, Samantha (Blake Hayes) Lockhart, Spencer Kuhns, Jessica Lockhart, Chelsea Kuhns, Alyssa Schott, Sean Fincham, Trisha Simione, Bryanna Simione and Jeffrey Simione; sisters Lorena Helmling, Audrey Callebs, Gladys Yutzy and Susan (Mike) Malyuk. Also surviving are many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to thank Jason at Briarwood for his care and compassion for our mother. She thought the world of him and that meant more to our family than words can express. Calling hours will be held 11 AM to 1 PM Saturday at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow, where funeral services will immediately follow at 1 PM. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna. Memorial donations may be sent to the Kent Special Olympics, c/o Kent Roosevelt High School, 1400 N. Mantua St., Kent 44240.
