Obituary of Becky Till Houk Lutz
Becky Till Houk Lutz of Munroe Falls, beloved spouse and soul mate of Steve Lutz for the past 25 years, took her final breath in the early afternoon hours of Saturday, May 25, and slipped beyond the reach of the living, into the waiting arms of her parents Paul & Bessie, and her dear brother John, all three having preceded her in death. Left to grieve this untimely and tragic loss, are her sisters Bonnie (Steve) St. Jean, Lynn (John) Fauvie and Debbie (Mike) Kostensky, as well as her cousins, and the many cherished nieces and nephews that so enriched her life.
Becky knew from a young age that she wanted to be a cosmetologist and barber, and she worked at this trade her entire life; most recently at “The Hair After” salon in Stow, Ohio, owned by her friend Kathy Williams. As was evident by the outpouring of love and support from the shop’s customers during the course of Becky’s nearly six month illness, these people were even more friends than they were customers, and we wish to express our deepest thanks to them for their love, kindness and prayers.
To Becky’s Primary Care physician Dr. Dawn Hubbard of Mill Pond Family Physicians, and Oncologists, Dr. Joseph Koenig and Dr. Susan Hong of the Cooper Cancer Center, who did battle with cancer and fought for Becky’s life daily, we thank you for your valiant efforts. We would also like to thank the staff at Summa Akron City Hospital’s ICU for the fine care they provided Becky during her brief stay there.
To the staff of the 7th Floor East Oncology wing at Summa Akron City Hospital, the Palliative Care staff, and Dr. Gwendolyn Hughes and staff at Summit County Intensive Care Physicians: You cared for our Becky with every medical skill in your arsenal. You comforted, humored, and held her, visited her on your days off, stayed with her on your own time, wept with the family…and loved her. I would list you all by name if I were not terrified of overlooking someone…but as Becky’s husband, and speaking on her behalf, I want you to know that we love you all…and to Becky, you were quite simply, “her people.”
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Thursday 4 to 9 PM, where Rev. Jonathan Rumburg will conduct service Friday 1 PM. Burial Oakwood Cemetery.
