He graduated from North High School in 1949, attended both The University of Akron and Kent State University, and then graduated Summa Cum Laude from Western Reserve School of Dentistry in 1955. Dr. Bob served in the US Navy ROTC and then the US Navy from 1951-1957, stationed in Iceland for his active duty.  One of the things he loved to recall was that his first duty after joining the Navy was to escort Miss Ohio at the Miss America pageant.  A few weeks after leaving the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander, he married Carol Dickson who he described as “the strength of my life”. Dr. Flask established his dental practice in Akron in 1955, later moving to Cuyahoga Falls from where he retired in 1998.  He gave much of his time to both the dental and civic communities.  Among other things, he served as President of the Akron Dental Society, was a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Stow-Munroe Falls, and was a member of North Akron Kiwanis.  He loved to fish, golf, play tennis, and travel.  He and his family spent many summers fishing and skiing at Devil’s Lake in Ontario, Canada.  Later in life, he and Carol took many trips to points all around the world.  Some of his favorite times were Christmas and 4th of July when the entire clan would gather at his house.
