Obituary of Donald A. Trimble

CUYAHOGA FALLS - For most of Don’s 42 years and 2 months at The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., he chose to work 2nd shift. Appropriately, he passed Saturday night, April 27, 2013, at 11:50 PM. If at Goodyear, he would have been waiting to clock out and come home. Only this time, his earthly work was finished and he went Home to be with his Lord and the many loved ones waiting to greet him. He was born in Akron, Ohio on March 10, 1948, graduated from East High in 1966, joining the Goodyear Apprenticeship Program in 1967. He graduated a state certified machinist on September 22, 1970, retiring because of health problems in 2008. Don married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Giddens on April 13, 1968. Together they were blessed with 2 sons, Todd Allen and Timothy Aaron. Later, to round out their family, Jesus sent 2 “almost daughters,” Elizabeth and Jennifer, into their lives. And finally, just two weeks ago, at Heather Knoll, Don and Kathy quietly, but lovingly, celebrated 45 years of marriage! Don was preceded in death by his 19 year old, only sister, Janet in 1970; niece Tammy, 6 months; and his parents Virginia and Harry, who passed away in 2004 and 2005 respectively. Those left to grieve include the woman by his side since 1965, his wife, Katherine Giddens Trimble; oldest son Todd (Stephanie) and their three children, Hannah, Abigail, and Riley; youngest son, Tim, who introduced them to fury, 4-legged grandchildren; Elizabeth (Kenny) and their 3 children, James, Colleen and Grace; Jennifer (Kip) and 8 year old daughter, Sabrina, and baby-to-be, Isabella, who will be arriving the first part of July; and grandson, Jackson Harris. Others include brother, Rev. Steven (Audrey) Trimble along with their children and grandchildren; sister-in-law, Deb Giddens Ickes (Rick) along with their children and grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Over the last 5 years, so many people have helped us on this journey through Parkinson’s. In particular, over the last year, we want to thank Don’s primary care physician of many years, Dr. David Uhall; Altercare of Cuyahoga Falls; everyone we got to know from Hospice of Summa; the wonderful staff of Heather Knoll; and Dr. Pollock. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road (Rt. 91), Stow, from 3 to 7 PM. The funeral will be Friday, May 3, 2013, at 1 PM, also at Redmon Funeral Home, with Pastor Dave Johnston officiating.  Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park, 1025 Canton Rd., Akron.  In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Don’s name to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 810, Memphis, TN, 38101.
