Obituary of Larry G. Gardner

Larry G. Gardner, 66, died April 24, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Born in Vincennes, IN, he retired from the Army after 21 years of service, having served two tours in Vietnam. He went on to work for the Akron Post Office and later retired with 19 years of service. Larry was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He enjoyed cutting the grass and using his snow blower, and could often be seen taking care of his fellow neighbor’s yards. He was very proud of his 19-acre property where he lived to tell the tale of “getting stuck by a deer, twice.” He was a true optimist who fought to enjoy life until the very end. Preceded in death by his parents Millard and Mildred, and brother Gary; he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathleen; daughters Jerri Jean, Tricia and Tracy; son Gary; grandchildren Cheyeanne and Lafe McCracken; sisters Carol (Fred) Burkhalter, Diane Gardner; brother Brian (Cindy) Gardner; mother-in-law Ernie Klees; his trusty companion, Beastie; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.    Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad Street, Canfield, OH 44406 or Hospice of Summa, 525 E. Market St., P.O. Box 2090, Akron, OH 44398-9976.
