Obituary of Robert D. Doherty
Robert D. “Bob” Doherty, 94, died April 9, 2013.
Born in Akron on April 7, 1919, he was a lifetime area resident, a US Army veteran of World War II and served in the Army Reserves. A former teacher, Mr. Doherty retired from the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services, volunteered for over 22 years at the Akron Blind Center and was active in Akron Right to Life and his Tuesday morning Rosary group.
He is survived by his daughter Maureen Dunifer of Stow; sons Patrick (Kathleen) Doherty of Massillon, Michael Doherty of Norton; grandchildren, Charlie Dunifer, Dr. Shaun (Jeanna) and Erin Doherty, Cody DeVault; 3 great-grandchildren and brother Jere Doherty of Akron.

Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Monday 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, mass offerings may be made in Bob’s memory to Holy Family Catholic Church or the Village at St. Edward.
