Obituary of Margaret Bradley Gallousis
CUYAHOGA FALLS - Margaret Bradley Gallousis age 88, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013.
She was born November 1, 1924 in Carnegie, PA, the daughter of the late Worthy E. and Margaret Doak. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James and George Doak and her husband of thirty years, George Gallousis. Margaret is survived by her sister, Sandra Brady and two children, George Gallousis and wife Margaret of Kettering, OH and Patricia Brenner and husband David of Stow, OH, and 6 grandchildren, Sara, Andrew, Laura, Christopher, Amy and Nicholas, and two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Luke, plus many friends at the Danbury of Cuyahoga Falls where she spent her last years.
Margaret had a remarkable life. She lived through tough times during the Depression and the Second World War. Those times gave her a fierce independence and ability to be self-sufficient that she fought to maintain to the end of her days. She found work during the war as a draftsman for Liberty Ships at the Irvin Steel Works in West Mifflin, PA. After the war she met the love of her life, George when he returned from the war and worked with her at Irvin Steel. In their life together, Margaret and George traveled around the world, visiting twenty two countries. Her travels ranged from the peaks of the Andes, to the ancient monuments of Greece and Rome, to the great cathedrals of Central Europe, to the temples of Asia, to the religious sites of the Holy Land. Her husband passed away in 1978 and Margaret found herself returning to the workforce at Cortland Savings and Loan, where she worked in the mortgage department until her late sixties. She enjoyed her last years building new friendships at the Danbury of Cuyahoga Falls and playing full-contact euchre. She will be missed.
Pastor Mike Marette will conduct service Thursday 5:30 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, where friends are invited for visitation Thursday from 3 PM to service time.
