STOW-George Alexander MacAdam, 75, passed away suddenly at his home Thursday November 15th 2012. Born March 18, 1937 in his family home in Stow, Ohio, George graduated from Stow High School in 1955 where he excelled in academics, basketball, football, track & field and Glee club. He was one of the first athletes to letter in the Stow sports program and was selected All-Metro in 1955 for basketball. Following High School he attended the University of Akron where he received his degree in Civil Engineering in 1960. During that time he was commissioned and served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force. He spent his career as a professional engineer working for several local construction and engineering firms, working on major transportation projects in northern Ohio. A lover of nature, he was an avid gardener, a skilled hunter, could identify plants of all kinds, recognized, and mimicked many North American bird calls, passing along many of these traits to his children and grandchildren whom he loved.
