Obituary of Emerson F. Miller

Emerson F. (Joe) Miller, 92, died November 17, 2014. Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, Joe was a proud Marine serving as Staff Sgt. with the 1st Marine Division in Guadalcanal and the South Pacific and a retired carpenter with Local 285.   He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen; sons David (Lillian), Gary (Barbara), and Timothy (Colette); daughters Rebecca Lingenhoel (Terry) and Rachel Vitez (Joseph); and sister, Becky McCloskey. Joe and Helen were presented with fifteen grandchildren, Nicholas, Joseph, Katherine, Andrew, Jane, Stephanie, Nadine, Marc, Sarah, Jonathan, Hannah, Abigail, Emilee, Nathaniel, Gabrielle, and ten great-grandchildren. Pastor Raymond Lias will conduct services at Redmon Funeral Home Saturday at 11:30 AM where friends may call from 9:30 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, Summit County Area Services, 190 South Maple Street, Akron, Ohio 44302. Interment Rose Hill Burial Park.
