Obituary of Susan E. Ramsdell

Susan E. Ramsdell, 48, died August 3, 2012. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 18, 1964, she was the daughter of the late John and Marilyn Ramsdell. She was raised in Upstate New York, returning to the area in 1978. She was a graduate of Hudson High School, class of 1982 and The University of Akron, class of 1987. An accomplished musician in both the piano, her true passion was the French Horn. She was a longtime member of the Musicians’ Union and was the current fourth chair French Hornist for the Akron Symphony Orchestra, a member for 26 years. She devoted much of her life teaching young minds the beauty of music at Western Reserve Academy, Hudson and Wadsworth High Schools. She is survived by her sister Catherine (Jerry) Livadas, niece Alexa and many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to thank the Akron Police Department and the park rangers of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Tuesday 5 to 8 PM. Private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to the Akron Symphony Orchestra or the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Susan's video tribute may be viewed here.
