Obituary of George A. Phillips
George A. Phillips, 80, died June 22, 2012.
Born in Millersburg, Ohio, he was a lifetime area resident and retired from the Akron Metro Regional Transit Authority with 36 years of service. As a young man, George was an apprentice bricklayer working on the old Edison and O’Neil’s buildings as well as many other commercial and residential buildings in the area. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War where he served as a helicopter mechanic. George enjoyed his family, NASCAR, mechanics and gardening, and was a member of IAM and International Union of Bricklayer and Allied Craftworkers Local 7.
Preceded in death by his wife Adelia (Teets) in 2004, brothers, Raymond, David, and Leroy; he is survived by children, Pat Phillips (Kathy Szcezesny), Terri Brooks (Doug) and David (Anne) Phillips; grandchildren, Crystal and Beth Brooks; Joshua, Emily and Luke Phillips; sisters, Mary Burke and Dorothy Burns.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Rd., Stow for visitation on Thursday from 6-8 PM and where services will be held 10:30 AM Friday with Pastor Steve Marshall officiating. Burial Greenlawn Cemetery.
