Obituary of William R. Monbeck

William R. Monbeck, age 65, of Stow, passed away April 22, 2012 after courageously battling pancreatic cancer. He was born in Dayton, Ohio to the late Donald and Rita (Cramer) Monbeck and grew up in Tipp City, Ohio. He attended Kent State University, earning a degree in Elementary Education in 1969 then his Master’s in School Administration in 1970. Bill taught school for almost eleven years at Woodland Elementary in Stow. He was also a Coach, assisting in implementing the first soccer program at Stow High School. Bill obtained his real estate license in 1971 and in 1979 after earning his broker’s license, opened his own real estate company, Bill Monbeck Realty. He operated the company until 2010, after which he joined Keller Williams Chervenic Realty as Director of Commercial Operations. Bill was not only a realtor, but also a developer, building office complexes including Ross Commons, Commerce Center, and Coach House Commons. Bill took great pride in serving his community. He served on the Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education for 12 years, was a past-president of the Stow-Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce, a past-president of the former Blue and Gold Club of Kent State University, a long time member of the Rotary Club of Stow-Munroe Falls, a member of and a hospitality minister at Holy Family Parish, and for a number of years marched as Uncle Sam in Stow’s Fourth of July Parade. Bill was a fisherman, a golfer, a reader, and a dedicated fan of Kent State athletics. In the past few years he found great spiritual fulfillment in his monthly Heart to Heart meetings. Bill loved his place at Atwood Lake, as well as trips to Ocean City, Maryland and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He loved being with family and friends and especially loved time spent with his two grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother James. He is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Karen (Braidic), daughters Julie (Andrew) and Erin (Troy), his precious grandsons, Finn and Kellen, his brother Donald, and the many special members of the Braidic family. Bill touched the lives of so many; he will be deeply missed. Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Thursday 3 to 8 PM. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday 12 Noon at Holy Family Catholic Church.
