Obituary of John C. Duer
John C. Duer of Silver Lake, OH, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 with family by his side.
Born December 6, 1913 in Cleveland, OH, John graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1940. Also a U.S. Army veteran, John retired from Firestone in 1979.
John was an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed his summers at the cottage that he built with his sons on Middle Bass Island. Intelligent, strong-willed, courageous and kind, he was a gift to all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
John is survived by his wife Josephine, their children Peggy Dick, Craig Duer, Bill Duer and Nancy MacWherter; grandchildren John Dyckson, Marykay Banville, Maria Duer, Renee Jett, Michelle Duer, Todd Burelson, Evan Burelson, Cortney MacWherter, Kelsey MacWherter and 12 great-grandchildren. With everlasting love, John shared 69 years of marriage with his loving wife. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
A service for the family will be held at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow, Monday, January 9, 2012.
