Obituary of Kay Freshley Wissler
HUDSON – Kay Freshley Wissler passed on to join her husband, Dick Wissler, Saturday evening, December 3, 2011.
Kay was a talented and well known artist and silversmith. She painted, sculpted and exhibited her jewelry in many juried art shows.
Kay was born and raised in Kirtland Hills. She attended Bowling Green University and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta. She graduated with an Art Degree in 1950 and married Dick in 1951. They designed and built their dream house on a lake in Hudson, residing there nearly 50 years. Kay and Dick were longtime members of Fairlawn Country Club where they made many lifelong friends. Kay’s primary loves were her grandchildren, books, gardening, cats and birds.
Kay celebrated family Christmases with her own creative touches, hiding money for the grandchildren in tear-apart puzzles, packages and games. On Christmas Eves she was always the first to spot Santa as he passed by the house because the kids were not singing “Jingle Bells” quite loud enough. Somehow Kay would attract Santa back into the fold in time to receive the most inappropriate gift under the tree!
Survived by her beloved daughter Barbara Wissler Letts, son-in-law Greg; grandchildren, Hayden and Katie Letts; son, Randall Wissler; siblings Anne Ruffner and Dr. F. Ronald Freshley; five awestruck nieces and nephews and families.
Remembrances may be made to the Ohio SPCA, P.O. Box 546, Grove City, OH 43123.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
