Obituary of Robert Peters

Husband of Mary and father of Eric passed away peacefully the morning Oct. 19 with his loved ones by his side. A son of Buckhannon, West Virginia born May 27 1920, he grew up in the Depression.  He became a Master Machinist and Engineer who helped build the America we know. From giant earth moving equipment, Corsair fighter tooling and Apollo space suits, his part in American history helped change the world. He served in the Pacific as a Chief Engineer and Gunner and was at the surrender of Japan. He was a “go to guy” you could always count on. He was extremely creative, capable and able to fix anything. He was in to every type of, and everything about racing, and was a real car guy. He loved all animals and they loved him. He respected nature and enjoyed deer hunting.  He was one of the seven children of Eddie and Erma with sisters Gertha, Roberta, Ruth and Bonnie and brothers Baird and Edward. His greatest joy was his grandchildren Heather, Caleb and Courtney. His insight, wisdom, enthusiasm, happiness and warmth will be missed by everyone. Calling hours 12 Noon on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Redmon Funeral Home with ceremony at 2:00 PM, followed by burial at Maple Lawn Cemetery.  All donations will be forwarded to the Wounded Warrior Project.
