Obituary of G. Dean Sharp

G. Dean Sharp, 85, of Macedonia, passed away peacefully after a short illness on October 16, 2011.             Born in Altus, Oklahoma, Dean had a full and accomplished life, including a state wide recognized three sport athletic career in high school, immediately thereafter proudly and bravely serving his country in the south Pacific during World War II.  After earning a business degree from the University of Oklahoma, Dean began a successful 35 year career with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.  Upon retirement, he enjoyed 20 years with family and friends in San Diego, California.             Dean was known for his keen sense of humor, love of outdoor activities including golf, hunting and fishing, and his willingness to quickly and unselfishly help others.  Most of all Dean was devoted to his family and greatly enjoyed the time he was able to spend with them.             Dean is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Berdine; sons Dean of Ashville, Alabama and John (Barbara) of Hudson; grandsons Sean (Amber), Jonathan, Matthew, and Kevin; granddaughter Kelly; great grandson Simon; numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends Bob and Alma Sears of Oklahoma City.             The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Paul Gibbons, and the doctors and staffs of Summa Western Reserve Hospital, Akron General Hospital, and the Visiting Nurse Hospice Care Center, all of whom cared for Dean with kindness and compassion.             Friends will be received on Thursday, October 20, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, OH 44224, where service will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.  Christian burial will follow at Markillie Cemetery in Hudson, with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy.             Memorials may be made to the National Stroke Association, 9707 E.
