Obituary of Lorin Alexander
Lorin D. Alexander was transported into the presence of Jesus on August 30, 2011. Born May 1, 1921, he was raised on Hunt Street in southeast Akron, attended Glover Elementary school and graduated from Garfield High in 1940. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1946.
After returning home, he joined the family grocery business known as the Double A Market and continued in the Naval Reserve until 1953. He owned and ran the Stop and Shop food market for 10 years, worked for the Lawson Milk Company, Chrysler Stamping Plant, and retired from S. D. Myers, Inc. of Tallmadge with 16 years service.
He enjoyed volunteering the subsequent 23 years at Akron City Hospital and golfing at Fox Den in Stow.
He leaves his wife of 69 years Mary Ann; daughters: Linda D. Alexander of Stow and, in Florida, Susan (Paul) Tatham with granddaughters: Jennifer (Matt) Marks, Jana (Byron) Salisbury, and Corrie Tatham; plus three great grand-children: Sage Salisbury, Joshua and Alexander Marks; brother C. Edward (Alene) Alexander of Peninsula, and sister Ellen (Edward) Masuga of Green.
Lorin confessed Jesus as his Lord September 10, 1960. He attended The Chapel on Fir Hill and Stow Alliance Fellowship. He asked that “ye sorrow not as those who have no hope”: I Thessalonians 4:13,14.
Graveside service Friday 2:30 PM at Rose Hill Burial Park. No flowers please. Donations may be given to the Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 E. Market St., P. O. Box 547, Akron 44309-0547.
