Obituary of Eugene F. Peddle
STOW – Eugene F. Peddle (Gene), 85, passed away peacefully July 17, 2011. He was at home with his devoted wife of 62 years, Cecelia (Mickey) at his side.
Gene was born in Highland Park, Illinois and proudly served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He graduated from Miami University with a degree in architecture. Some of his outstanding designs included Cedar Locust and Cedar Pine Medical Buildings, Walsh Jesuit, St. Vincent- St. Mary and Our Lady of the Elms High Schools, St. Eugene’s Catholic Church, Holy Family Catholic Church, Sisters of Notre Dame Chapel and St. John’s High School in Toledo. He was a basketball coach at Holy Family, and served on the Stow Zoning and Parks and Recreation Boards. Gene and Mickey enjoyed being on the slopes as Ski Patrol/Instructors at Boston Mills as well as ocean fishing, sailboarding and “snowbirding” to Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Wilma; brothers Vincent and Lawrence and sister Ruth.
Gene is survived by his wife, Cecelia; children Thomas Peddle, Terry (Jim) Corcoran, Vince (Shannon) Peddle, Diane (Chuck) Andrews and Carol (Chris) Whitfield; grandchildren Joel (Jaime) Peddle, Nick (Jaclyn) Peddle, Billy Corcoran, Julian Peddle, Sarah Andrews, Silas Peddle, Daniel Peddle, Cody Boggs and Chelsea Boggs; brothers Roger and Henry Peddle and sisters Monica Baldi and Carol Becker, great-grandchildren Ania and Landon.
Services will be private. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron 44333.
