Obituary of Alice Kay Whitehead
STOW- Alice Kay Whitehead, 68, went home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2011 at the Hospice Care Center after a short illness.
Born in Akron, Kay was a longtime resident of Hudson, spending most of her childhood growing up on the Middleton Farm. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1960 and attended Hammel Business College. She was active in the Summit County 4-H and remained involved as a youth advisor for many years. Kay also served on the Summit County Fair Board and was a member of the Summit County Agricultural Society of Ohio. She moved to Stow shortly after her retirement from the Hudson City School District in 1993, where she was an Administrative Secretary and the Transportation Supervisor for more than twenty four years. Kay enjoyed shopping, the Cleveland Indians, collecting Longaberger baskets and spending time with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by parents Vada and John Whitehead, Kay will be sadly missed by her best friend and aunt, Ruth Bourgeois of Stow, uncle Charles of Stow, cousins Alan (Cheryl) Bourgeois of Kent, Roger (Glennelle) Bourgeois of Hudson, Linda (Chuck) Schilling of Hudson, as well as many other family members and lifelong friends. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Hospice Care Center for their loving care of Kay.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Sunday 2 to 5 PM, where Pastor Scott Hayward will conduct service Monday 11 AM. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hudson.
