Obituary of Ellie Dee Davis
Ellie Davis, a lively, talented woman of 91, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2011. Born on October 15, 1919, in Clarksburg, WV, Ellie moved to Akron in 1943 with her husband Rankin Davis. Ellie and Rankin were married for 71 years before he preceded her in death in February 2009. Ellie was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Kathleen Davis in 1984.
Ellie leaves her two children Steven (Debbie) Davis and Sally (Bob) Fanelly of Akron, and nine grandchildren: Nick, Kate, David, Timothy, Ed, Kristina, Amanda, Jason, and Matt. She also leaves several great and great-great grandchildren.
Ellie was an accomplished artist, with a preference for painting scenes and animals. Her rose and other flower gardens were the envy of her neighbors. She enjoyed golfing in the summer and bowling in the winter and was excellent at both. Her children cherish the many lovely afghans she crocheted for them. She loved to sing, and she and her husband often sang Welsh duets taught to her by her father. Most of all, Ellie loved to be surrounded by her family. Ellie’s many talents and loving heart will be missed by her family.
Pastor Jim Case will conduct service Friday 12 Noon at Redmon Funeral Home, where friends are invited for visitation from 10 AM until service time. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
