Obituary of Catherine Finan

CUYAHOGA FALLS- Catherine Finan (nee Gabelman), 89, passed away on April 30, 2011. Born September 12, 1921 in Akron to Jacob and Mary Gabelman, Catherine graduated from St. Mary’s Grade and High School and also from St. Thomas School of Nursing.  She retired after many years of service as a registered nurse from Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital.  Catherine lived most of her life in Stow and Cuyahoga Falls, and was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church.  Mrs. Finan was preceded in death by her first husband Paul T. Steese, Jr., her second husband Paul C. Finan,  her parents Jacob and Mary Gabelman, sister Mary Louise Gabelman, brothers and sisters-in-law Harold (Dorothy) Gabelman, Richard (Rita) Gabelman and Donald (Mary Ann)  Gabelman and brother-in-law Frank Meyers.   She is survived by her three sons Patrick (Ellen) Finan of Cortland, OH, Thomas (Peggy) Finan of Chesterfield, MO, and William Finan (Richard Johnson) of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren Elizabeth Finan of Arlington, VA, Paul Finan of Cleveland, Patrick Finan of Cortland, Sara (Tim) Melly of St. Louis, MO, Katie Finan of St. Louis, MO and Matthew Finan of Chesterfield, MO.  She also leaves her sisters Margaret Meyers of Williamsburg, VA and Eleanor (Jack) Willett of Cuyahoga Falls; brother-in-law Edward (Joyce) Finan of Akron and sister-in-law Betty Finan of Tallmadge. Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Monday 5 to 8 PM.  Mass of the Christian Burial Tuesday 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church.  Burial Holy Cross  Cemetery.    Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Holy Family Capital Campaign, 3450 Sycamore Drive, Stow 44224.  Mrs. Finan's video tribute may be seen here.
