Obituary of Janice Kay Smith

Janice Kay Smith (nee Hostettler) born May 10, 1935 went home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2011 after a two year battle with cancer. Janice was born in Shreve, OH and lived all of her life in the Cuyahoga Falls and Stow area.  She graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School and worked nearly 40 years as a legal secretary retiring from Roetzel & Andress, an Akron law firm.  She was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church on Hudson Drive in the Falls. Janice was an avid homemaker and was affectionately known as “Mrs. Clean” by her husband.  She loved flowers, gardening, cooking, reading and college sports, especially Ohio State.  Family was the focus of her attention. She is survived by her husband, John, son Mark Smolk and his wife Marta; daughter Jennifer Hill and husband David; brother James Edwin Hostettler of Billings, Montana; grandsons Jasen and his wife Meghan, Christopher, Jacob and Tycho.  Janice will sorely be missed by all those who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 6, 2011, 11 AM at the United Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls, 2819 Hudson Drive, Cuyahoga Falls, OH.  Friends are invited to the Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Thursday from 6 to 8 PM.  In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the United Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls.
