Obituary of Morton M. Thomas
STOW - Morton M. Thomas, 80, died April 24, 2011.
He was born in Renovo, PA, was a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University and served in both the U.S. Army and Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was employed by Goodyear Tire in several management positions and retired in 1989.
He was an active supporter of Ohio’s Public Libraries and was a past president of the boards of Stow Public Library, Ohio Library Trustees Association and the Ohio Library Council. He was also a delegate to the President’s White House Conference on Libraries and Information Services.
In addition, he was also the past president of St. Luke Lutheran Community in North Canton, Ohio.
Mr. Thomas was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Cuyahoga Falls and served on various boards and committees.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Esther; son Brian (Charlene) of Middleburg Heights; daughter Anne Warren of Lawrenceville, GA and five grandchildren.
Private graveside services for the family will be at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park, Cuyahoga Falls. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 2121 6th Street, Cuyahoga Falls on Wednesday April 27 at 1:30 PM with Reverend Robert E. Linsz officiating. Visitation on Wednesday at the church from 12:30 PM until service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Luke Lutheran Community, 220 Applegrove Street NE, North Canton, Ohio 44720.
