Obituary of Minnie K. Carter
Minnie (Minni) K. Carter of Tallmadge, Ohio, went to her heavenly home on February 22, 2011, at the age of 88. Those who have passed on before her include her parents Anna and Stephan Teffner, beloved husband Van Carter, brother Elmer Teffner, sister Elsie Birdsall, and daughter Diane Lesnick. Minni is survived by her son Bryan (Christine) Carter of Nevada, grandchildren Trina, Erick (Jennifer), and Kelly Carter, and great-grandchildren Katherine and Warner, all of Tallmadge, Ohio, nieces Judy (Michael) VanDress of Florida and Marilyn (Jim) Walker of Stow, Ohio, nephew Donny (Beth) Teffner of Ohio, and her cherished pet Rottweilers. Minni also leaves behind her dear friends, who were a special part of her life.
Our most sincere thanks to the wonderful Nurses, Aides, Staff and Sister Bea at The Village of St. Edward for the incredible care, dedication and compassion they gave Minni and her family. We are also very grateful to Dr. Bonyo and to Asera Care Hospice for their wonderful support and care.
Minni loved her many pets over the years, including her parrot Chico, several dogs, and her cherished horse Jimmy. Minni kept a variety of bird feeders in her yard and delighted in watching, feeding and protecting her outdoor birds. She was also proud of Mindale Farms, which she helped Van build over the years.
Minni had a myriad of talents and interests. Minni’s Christian faith was always very important to her. She was an avid cook, best known for her corn noodles and her scrumptious pies made from scratch. Growing flowers, most notably roses, was another of Minni’s delights. She volunteered for over 20 years at Akron General, in the Activities Department, creating silk flower arrangements for sale at the gift shop. Minni was quite proud to have been named Salutatorian of her South High School senior class in 1940. Her intelligence, strength and determination, and kind, generous nature were known by many and will be sorely missed.
When parting company with a relative or friend, Minni would often say …“See you later, alligator!” to which we reply one last time …. “After a while, crocodile!”
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Thursday 4 to 7 PM. Pastor Keith Johnson will conduct service Friday 11 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2141 Fifth Street, Cuyahoga Falls. Private burial at Crown Hill Cemetery.
