Obituary of Donald E. Bartow

STOW- Donald E. Bartow, 70, was taken by the angels peacefully on December 27, 2010 after complications from a lung transplant. Donnie was born on June 11, 1940 in Streetsboro to the late Retta (Lovelace) and Robert E. Bartow.  He was a resident of Stow for 67 years and retired from Morse Controls of Hudson after 35 years of service. Donnie dedicated his life to helping and being of service to others.  He was on the Board of Directors and a volunteer for the Blackhawk Dynasty Drum and Baton Corps for 27 years.  He was also a member of the Calvary Apostolic Church of Akron and former member of The Apostolic Gospel Church of Stow. Preceded in death by brothers Robert and Leonard, he is survived by wife Josephine (Jo Ellen), the love of his life; son Donald R. (Tammy Mulholland); daughter Sabrina (Craig Slider); granddaughters Britt’nie and Landry, all of Stow, and Caitlin of Kentucky; brother Raymond (Judy) Bartow of Stow; sisters Beatrice Grubb of Streetsboro and Mary (Henry) Craft of Cuyahoga Falls.  He was dearly loved and will be missed by his family of numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and devoted nieces, nephews and friends. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Cleveland Clinic for all of their kindness and compassion, and all those that prayed tirelessly for him. Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Thursday 4 to 7 PM, where Pastors Nelson Carter and Kenneth Tharp will conduct service Friday 11 AM. The family requests that, instead of flowers, memorials be made to the Donald E. Bartow Memorial Fund at any First Merit Bank.  Mr. Bartow’s video tribute may be seen here.
