Obituary of Robert H. Shively

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Robert H. Shively, 80, died October 3, 2014. Born in Sylvania, OH, he had lived in Cuyahoga Falls since 1965, was a graduate of the University of Akron with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing, and served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Mr. Shively was a member of Graham Road Baptist Church, where he served as an audio video technician and as a deacon.  While a member of Graham Road Baptist, Mr. Shively started a program to create tapes of the services for the shut-ins.   Mr. Shively retired as a manager with Sears after 33 years, had been a Boy Scout leader, and photographer. Preceded in death by his parents Harmon and Elizabeth Shively and aunt Eileen Slagle, he is survived by his wife, Opal; children Tim (Vandy), Ruth (Duane) Grassell, Dan and Paul Shively; grandchildren Sarah and Kenny Shively and Esther Grassell; sister Barbara Poe and brothers James (Kay) and Richard Shively. Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.  Pastor Larry Engle will conduct service Thursday 11 a.m. at Graham Road Baptist Church, 705 Graham Road, Cuyahoga Falls 44221.  Burial Chestnut Hill Memorial Park.  The family requests memorials to Brain Support Network, P.O. Box 7264, Menlo Park, CA 94026 (to support medical research of degenerative neurological diseases) or to Haven of Rest, P.O. Box 547, Akron 44309-0547.
