Obituary of Evelyn Gamble Dakoski

  Evelyn Gamble Dakoski, 80, died December 5, 2010 in Atlantis, FL.   Born in Akron on May 6, 1930, Evelyn was a life-long resident of Summit County and wintered for the past 20 years in West Palm Beach, Florida. She attended David Hill Elementary School, graduated from Garfield High School, where she was a member of marching band and won state honors playing bass clarinet. She attended the University of Akron and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Evelyn graduated from Akron City Hospital as a registered x-ray technician, where she met her treasured friend Geri Florkiewicz. She retired from Fallsview Psychiatric Hospital (x-ray, EEG, and EKG technician).   Evelyn took a detour in life to battle mesothelioma and cancer related to asbestos exposure.   Her interests and community service include: Goodyear Symphonic Band; theater make-up for Goodyear productions; 40 years service to the Children’s Home Board; Children’s Concert Society; Stow Woman’s Club; president of the Indian Trail PTA in Stow; Firestone Country Club; Billow Chapter of Easter Star; Yusef Khan Caldron; Toastmistress’ Club; Summit County Republican Club; Christ Church Episcopal in Hudson.   Preceded in death by her husband Andrew James Dakoski, Jr. and parents Bonnie Thompson Gamble and Arlie William Gamble, she is survived by son Andrew William Dakoski, Stow; daughter Andrea (Dakoski) Futrell (husband Michael), Blacksburg, Virginia; sister Nancy Gamble Schell, Mobile, Alabama; special nieces and nephews Debbie and Jeff Kessler, Durham, NC, Dawn and Cliff McAleer, Mobile, Alabama, Richard and Mare Lange, Akron, and Gregory Lange, Akron; great nieces and nephews Nicholas DiLello, Gina DiLello, Dan Wilkey, Jessica Lange and cousins in West Virginia and Texas.   Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Thursday 6 to 9 PM.   The Rev. Brian Suntken and the Rev. M. Kathryn Rackley will conduct service Friday 11 AM at Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora Street, Hudson 44236.  Burial Silver Springs Cemetery.  Memorial contributions for Evelyn can be made to Christ Church Episcopal or to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.
