Obituary of Joan Mae Benfield

  Joan Benfield – longtime resident of Silver Lake Village, born in 1927 in Cuyahoga Falls, went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2010.  She was an English teacher for 32 years at Sill Jr. High , and Cuyahoga Falls High.  After retirement in 1995, she continued to teach as a substitute at CFHS.  She spent her extra hours enjoying her four grandsons: JT, Logan, Mason, and Parker Gabriel (Stow).  Joan often visited her Nebraska grandchildren; Cara, Kelsey and Cabe Harwood.   Preceded in death by her husband, Robert, Joan is survived by her two loving daughters, Lynne Janssen and Lari Gabriel, their spouses Bill Janssen and Joe Gabriel, her sister Darla (Bill) Winnefeld, and her sister-in-law Shirley (Vito) Stolfo. Friends may call at the Redmon Funeral Home Wednesday from 4 to 6 PM and where service will be held Thursday 10 AM with Pastor Kevin Poest of The Chapel celebrating.  Should friends desire, memorials may be made to The Chapel, 135 Fir Hill, Akron 44304.  Mrs. Benfield's video tribute may be seen here.
