Obituary of Richard Wills

Richard H. “Dick” Wills, 79, died unexpectedly July 9, 2010, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Cleveland Heights, Richard graduated from Cleveland Hts.  HS in 1949, received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Fenn College (CSU) in 1953 and his Masters from Buffalo University in 1955.  While in Buffalo he met and married Carolyn Martin, the love of his life.  Richard was employed with Bell Laboratories in Buffalo before moving to the Akron area, where he worked as a guidance systems engineer for Goodyear Aerospace for thirty years, retiring shortly after it was purchased by Loral. Dick enjoyed building operational model ships and working crossword puzzles.  An accomplished handyman, he was often found at the homes of his children and granddaughter laying floors, painting, installing fountains, installing electrical lines for lights, building decks and ponds and a myriad of other projects.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and planning his next project with them.  He was loved very much and will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, he is survived by son Jeffery of Cincinnati, daughter Anita (Tom) Gedelian  of Munroe Falls and son David (Beth) of Stow; grandchildren Cynthia (Damian) Huising, Laura and Robert Gedelian; Sarah and Davey Wills; great grandson Victor Huising; sister Nathalie Kirlik, and nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place.  Friends may call at the Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, Friday from 5-8 pm.  Rev. Matt Wooster will conduct a memorial service Saturday at 11 am at the First Congregational Church of Tallmadge, 85 Heritage Drive, Tallmadge, OH.  Mr. Wills video tribute may viewed here.
