HUDSON- A former Ellet resident of 26 years, Orpah lived at Laurel Lake Retirement Community in Hudson for over 20 years until her passing on July 14, 2010 at the age of 92. She attended Western College for Women (now Miami University, Oxford) and was a 1941 graduate of Oberlin College where she majored in math and minored in organ. She assisted the war effort during WW II as a draftsperson for Goodyear concentrating on blimps, life rafts and barrage balloons. After raising a son she returned to work in 1970 at Babcock & Wilcox where she retired in 1987 as the company’s Senior Programmer.
Always a lady in every respect, Orpah will be remembered most for her love of family, her fiery independence, her cutting sense of humor, and her example of a productive and moral life well lived.
She is preceded in death in 1976 by her devoted husband of 27 years, William Albert Schoeler, and parents, the Rev. Raymond George and Christena Maria (Christensen) Clark. She is survived by her loving son, Richard Clark, and daughter-in-law, Mary Laura (Keller) Schoeler , and two grandchildren, Christina Ann and William Bennett Schoeler, all of Peninsula.
There will be no calling hours and a private interment was held. A memorial service will be held at a future date at Laurel Lake. In lieu of flowers, the family requests your consideration of a donation in Orpah’s name to the Laurel Lake Foundation, 200 Laurel Lake Drive, Hudson 44236 to benefit the caregivers of that organization.
